Data view in regular Run

Hi, thanks so much for this app. It has been really helpful on my Venu 2, and it works great for my needs.

Is it possible to develop a Connect IQ Data Field version of Mappily that can be added directly to the native Garmin Run activity, rather than running Mappily solely as a standalone device app? Similar to dwMap’s MapField, Mappily’s offline vector tiles would be a huge upgrade over the phone-dependent basemaps.

My main reason for asking is compatibility with platforms like Runna, which sync structured workouts directly to the native Garmin Run app. Having Mappily as a data field would allow users to follow structured workouts and view your offline maps at the same time.

Hi,

This had been suggested before, but unfortunately Garmin only give 15Kb of memory to a data field, which is far too little to run the app. It requires 120Kb as an absolute bare minimum.

David

Thanks David, Unfortunate, I thought so already but wanted to ask anyway. Any idea, perhaps, how MapField gets around it? It only shows the active route and location in the data field.

It looks like this field is cutting down to simply showing the route line, which perhaps might fit in a field.

Its been a couple of years since I investigatexd this. Ill take another look and see if anyrhing is possible
