The map background.is black to ensure that its high constrast and because this reduces battery usage slightly. Its not possible to change this
Whats your reaaon for wanting a different colour?

The map is only available with a black background which provides the best contrast to be able to see routes and roads

Hi, the map relies on a strong internet connection on your phone, but the route line is downloaded in advance so will always appear. You should try downloading the route map in advance using the menu. This will ensure the map always remains visible if you stay on route (unless the map gets extremely crowded, in which case the app will ensure the route remains visible whilst ensuring the app doesnt overload the watch)
